Ecole Centrale de Nantes

École Centrale de Nantes came to existence in 1919. Since then Centrale Nantes has aimed at training high scientific level leaders, managers and innovators fully active in the global environment. With its rapid international development, Centrale Nantes now welcomes growing numbers of excellent students, researchers, and academics from partner institutions in more than 50 various countries.

About 40 years ago, Prof. Leroy and Ing. Priem initiated the research activities on forming and welding using electromagnetic or electro-hydraulic energy at the Ecole Centrale de Nantes. Subsequently Prof. Surendar Marya advanced the development of pulse welding of heterogeneous metals and forming by investigating the material aspects under high speed forming and impact welding. Today, Prof. Guillaume Racineux heads a research team in the Institute of Research in Civil Engineering and Mechanic (GeM) on manufacturing processes of metallic parts. The research group focuses on the development of new industrial processes and applications for forming and welding using electromagnetic and electro-hydraulic energy.
